![]() Annually, students design and construct an SAS homecoming float. Our parent group hosts an ice-cream “meet and greet” at the beginning of the school year for the four grade levels. SAS provides opportunities for social interactions that foster a sense of community. To ensure academic and personal success, SAS offers students peer mentoring and tutoring through the SAS student-led Scholars in Action club and the Freshmen/Senior Buddy Program. For the annual SAS Film Festival, students write and produce film shorts and documentaries. Projects include creating professional-quality magazines and choreographing a dance of DNA replication. Students utilize industry-standard software such as iMovie, Google Docs, Final Cut Pro and Adobe InDesign. and the Schoology platform to access curriculum. Students develop advanced proficiency in technology, including the use of the TurnItIn online writing tool to draft and submit essays. Students may select from 23 AP courses and numerous on-campus college classes. ![]() SAS provides college-level, content-specific studies in English, social science, biological and physical sciences, mathematics, and languages other than English such as Spanish, French, Japanese and Korean. Through a differentiated, high-standards instructional program and students are engaged in courses that meet their individual and intellectual needs. The course of study is in alignment with the UC system admission requirements and prepares students for the nation’s most competitive post-secondary schools. The School for Advanced Studies (SAS) program at Cleveland challenges state identified gifted students to achieve their maximum potential through a successfully-proven college preparatory course of study.
